The Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Great Northern University trains students to critically examine human behavior and contributing mental processes. This major equips students with the right tools to progress toward a career in social services, mental health, counseling, or psychiatry.

This program is highly beneficial for anyone who desires to gain a better understanding of how mental processes (nature versus nurture, personality, theories on motivation and methods, etc.) contribute to the human experience. Students will explore scientific research on mental health (environmental and genetic factors), develop speaking and conversational skills to enhance problem-solving abilities, and discuss psychology in social, cultural, and professional contexts.

The Psychology major has concentrations, including Biblical Counseling and School Counseling. The Biblical Counseling concentration trains students toward work as leaders and ministers with counseling roles in church and para-church settings. The School Counseling concentration prepares students with skills to work in school counseling settings at elementary, middle, and high school levels. However, as with all of Great Northern University’s programs, our flexible curriculum allows you to customize your degree to your future career goals.
